9-YEAR-OLD BOY USES RECYCLING TO RAISE MONEY FOR BROTHER DIAGNOSED WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

David Nengi Ayomide Pepple is 9 years old and lives with his parents and brother at No.133
Niger Street (Town) Port Harcourt. David is a child full of ideas. He also has a passion for turning waste into wealth through artworks. He possesses the dexterity and uncommon ability to work with almost any material and convert them into various items. He has been doing this for over 2 years but recently, he came up with the idea to display the artworks he created in an exhibition. According to David, there is a story behind every of his artistic creation and this inspires the name given to each of his artworks.

Presently he is collating material for his forthcoming art exhibition in Port Harcourt with the use of foils from drinks, corks, rubber, condemned electronics, wood and a lot of other materials. David intends to send all the proceeds from his art exhibition to raise funds for his younger brother, Bromide, who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and needs a surgical operation in Italy to enable him to walk. Through his works, he has managed to attract the support of the Rivers chapter of the Society of Nigerian artists, 2 professors of art who own galleries in Port Harcourt and 10 graduate artists who have donated a piece each to make David’s dream come true. David also intends to establish a foundation to cater for the less privileged, orphans and the aged persons at the home for the elderly.
